Inconvenience.

I don't even know where to begin writing.  The first thing that comes to mind seems like a good place to start.  I'm hungry.  Ok, second thing - what has really annoyed me lately is the fact that people don't keep promises.  So I was about to buy a car;  I paid the deposit, paid for a mechanical inspection and only thing left was to get a roadworthy certificate.  Two weeks of anticipation and daydreaming about the roadtrips I would be taking, the convenience I'll have and the enjoyment of driving it, then BAM!!!!!!! The wife says she doesn't want to sell it anymore because it's 'too much trouble' and she 'really loves the car'.  The husband seller who I had been dealing with said they wanted to sell the car because it wasn't practical for them to drive around their grandchildren and was partly also a financial matter.  To me it seems quite irrational for the wife to keep it just because she has an emotional attachment to it.  Then again, you can't believe everything people tell you.  For all I know, they may have sold to someone else or withdrew from the sale because they want to get a higher price from a dealer.   I get an email a few days later from that seller with a link to another car for sale.  "Maybe something for you?" it said.  Thanks, but no thanks.  You would do me a bigger favour if you had gone through with the sale in the first place.
At the end of the day, I still have no car, I'm starting a new job that requires travelling, and final exams are coming closer.  SoSad.

End of rant.

Collar It.

Inspirations from Tumblr.

My winter this year will be heaps of knits and collared shirts.
The added detail on the collars will replace the need for any necklaces, which you probably won't be able to see when you're all wrapped up anyway.
DIY perhaps?

A Slouchy Clutch.

Inspirations from Tumblr

While practicality is high on my list of priorities, the big heavy bags are finally taking a physical toll on me.  I often come home at the end of the day with a strained bicep from carrying a heavy bag on my arm the whole day.  The bigger the bag, the more I'm tempted to fill it up - often with stuff I don't really need.  I am now looking out for one of these clutches that would be perfect for the day time and just the right size to carry the stuff you need.

Galaxy 7.7

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

In my circle of friends, I'm known to carry the heaviest bag.  I seem to have quite a lot of "necessities" to bring with me, and now another one to add is my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7!
The Apple fan in me did struggle a little when thinking about whether to get this or the iPad 2.  I actually decided that I didn't need a tablet, but the boy surprised me with one when he was in HK (Thank you! x)
Short story is that I LOVE IT!!

Save technical specifications for the experts, this is my two cents.

What I use it for:
Browsing, ebooks, notes, social networking, google everything (tasks, talk, docs and calendar.)

Why I chose it over the iPad 2:
Flash support, smaller size and weight (7.7 inch screen), multitasking, customisation, battery life.

What iPad has that I wish was on this:
Bejeweled Blitz, QuickTime support, multi-touch gestures, a tactile 'Home' button.

Why not just use your smartphone?
If I used my iPhone or Blackberry for all of the above, I would probably run out of battery by midday.  Also, unless you have a Samsung Galaxy Note, I think most smartphone displays would be too small to comfortably browse and read eBooks.

Other goodies that Galaxy Tab 7.7 offers:

- 3G version means you can put a sim card in and use the tablet as a phone and for SMS.  While it might seem silly to put the tablet against your face, there's always the handsfree or bluetooth headset options.
- GPS navigation straight out of the box. No need to pay for any 3rd party app to have turn-by-turn navigation.

My heart sank a little when I knew the New iPad was being announced just a week after I got it.  But phewwwwwwww!!! Glad the announcement didn't make me change my mind about the Galaxy Tab at all.  Size and weight are big factors to consider since I want a tablet to be convenient to carry around and easy to handle.  Having small hands like mine means that I fumble quite a bit with the iPad, especially trying to type on it using just my thumbs.  Yes, there is the split keyboard.  But I feel like my eyes are going nuts when trying to type quickly on it on horizontal view because the two sides are so far apart.  To me, having an iPhone and an iPad would be doubling up on a lot of things.  If I did have the iPad, I don't think I would take it out with me very often.

Any fashionistas considering a tablet should seriously take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7.  It's so thin and light, and the aluminum backing looks very classy.  It might take a bit of getting used to if you've been a diehard iPhone user.  Once you get familiar, it will probably become a legitimate extension of your arm.

Contingencies.

I wish that clutch was mine.  I love the colour so much - maroon with giant gold hardware - even my shirt is maroon.

The past few weeks have been somewhat of a roller coaster ride. There was bad news, followed by worse news and then a little bit of good news.  It's been like a test of endurance and ability to stay optimistic.  Pardon my being so vague, but the details are some what tedious and boring.  The biggest thing I've learn from this is be prepared.  Still, sometimes when you think you are being 'well prepared' and not leaving things to the last minute, it still screws up.  One solution is to think ahead and make thorough contingency plans.   But even if your plans didn't provide for all the contingencies, just know that it could always be worse.
